What’s Your Body Trying to Tell You? A Guide to Healing Anxiety and Pain Relief

Have you ever turned your head quickly and your neck spasmed? Or bent down to grab your keys and your back seized up? Have you struggled with anxiety, only to suddenly experience full-blown panic attacks? This is a common experience, and you are not alone! Over 50% of the population suffers from chronic pain, while anxiety and panic attacks affect over 20% of Americans. Many people cannot pinpoint the cause of their symptoms when they occur.

Our bodies communicate with us in various ways—through words, sounds, electromagnetic frequencies, facial expressions, touch, movement, and more. Your body has its own unique language to convey its needs. You yawn when tired, your stomach rumbles when hungry, your mouth feels dry when thirsty, and you get butterflies in your stomach when nervous or excited. These sensations inform us about what is happening inside. Unfortunately, many of us haven't learned to listen to our body's subtle cues. Our body gives us gentle signals when something is off, but we often wait until a major issue arises to pay attention.

When it comes to pain and disease, symptoms are usually the last things to appear. This means the processes causing the pain or disease were happening long before the symptoms started. Understanding this is crucial because our daily decisions and actions impact our future health and well-being. This is the concept of making health a lifestyle.

As a Network Spinal Chiropractor, my goal is to improve communication between the brain and the organs/tissues of the body. Decreased or altered nerve signals from an organ to the brain and back can cause disease in that organ system. Similarly, decreased or altered movement patterns and nerve signals to a muscle, joint, or tissue can cause pain, degeneration, and other issues. By enhancing flexibility, movement, and nerve signals in the feedback loop between the brain and body, the proper processes can occur to heal the body.

When communication is altered, the body cannot heal as it was designed to. The body has an innate ability to heal itself when the nervous system is not overwhelmed or blocked.

This brings us back to the fact that pain and symptoms are the last things to show up. What if we could engage in daily practices to prevent these processes from happening and even stop those that have already started? It's possible! Here are a few tips to jumpstart your health and longevity:

  1. Eat a Clean and Nutritious Diet: Avoid processed foods and opt for colorful, fresh, organic vegetables, grass-fed and organic meats, organic fruits, and complex grains. This will reduce your exposure to chemicals like pesticides that cause inflammation and other disease processes. A colorful and clean diet provides your body with the nutrients it needs to heal and thrive.

  2. Move Your Body: Movement is crucial for health and prevention. It improves mood, reduces stress, enhances the body's ability to eliminate toxins, and increases muscle mass. Additionally, moving your joints through a full range of motion daily promotes longevity and reduces degeneration.

  3. Take Care of Your Spine and Nervous System: Gentle techniques such as Network Spinal Chiropractic use light touches on the spine to enhance the connection between your brain and organs/tissues. Incorporating this into your weekly routine improves your body’s ability to heal, adapt to stress, and maintain ease of movement. Waiting for symptoms to arise can make healing more challenging and prolonged.

  4. Get Functional Lab Panels: Find a chiropractor, naturopath, or functional medicine practitioner to run labs that assess your hormones, gut health, inflammation, and food sensitivities. These labs provide insights into your body's internal processes before they become problematic.

  5. Get Outside: Nature is a simple and cost-effective way to reduce stress, quiet your mind, and boost your mood. When feeling lost, confused, stressed, or down, being in nature brings clarity and calm to the body and mind. Taking time away to reset and recharge helps us make better decisions for our health and well-being.

In our modern world, physical, chemical, and emotional stressors are everywhere. Our bodies are constantly overloaded with information, toxins, and a lack of movement. It is crucial to create a lifestyle that enhances our health and supports our body’s ability to heal and adapt. Life is short, so we should do the things that help us enjoy the time we have doing what we love!

By focusing on healing anxiety, pain relief, and overall well-being through practices like network chiropractic, we can improve our quality of life and prevent chronic pain and anxiety from taking over. Embrace these tips and listen to your body’s language to achieve a healthier, happier life.
